Casey Sherman is the Supervising Attorney of the ID Unit at Colorado Legal Services. Originally from Oklahoma, she obtained her BA in Psychology and Anthropology, and later JD from the University of Arkansas. She worked as an AmeriCorps Member for Legal Aid of Arkansas before law school and returned there as an attorney after graduating. She joined Colorado Legal Services in 2018. She is licensed in Arkansas and Colorado. The ID Unit is one of CLS’s specialty units. It is a partnership of Colorado Legal Services, Metro Caring, Denver Human Services, and the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless to with the goal of making vital identity documents more accessible to low-income, seniors, and disabled Coloradans. They also provide extended representation to those who require additional assistance to obtain a state ID, including legal name changes, delayed registrations of birth, and replacing citizenship/immigration documents.
